God's Waiting Room

As we wait in this little time called life, I would like to welcome you to the School of the Holy Ghost. As a patron here in this school, you are obligated to receive a five course meal with a complimentary gift at the end. I want to encourage you to not be discouraged as we walk though this together as Christ has given you strength. Often we are too much in a hurry to take care of the things of "life" and we fail to hear what God is saying. So as we sit here and wait, we will talk about being patient. I believe it is God's will for us to sit and wait for His glory. Now, of course, there is always balance. We don't want to sit on our hands pretending that we are waiting to hear from God but we also don't want to jump off a cliff without a parachute, amen? In Psalms 46:10, God calls us to be still and know who He is. Just in the comment from God to "Be still" tells us that we don't have to move on any decision or be impatient on anything that we need because we already know that He is in control of it all. He also reminds us to know that He is God. God is already in control and we already acknowledge that but do we KNOW that He is in control? Do we allow Him to take control? Philippians 4:19 tells us that God will "supply all your needs in accordance to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus." As we rely on Him to supply that need, we have to learn our patience factor. We have to rely on and have confidence that God is going to come forth with these things (see PS 37:4&7). We don't have to go out and do our sacrifices because we are scared that God is not going to show up on time. We have that type of representation of this impatience in I Samuel 13.

"Saul remained at Gilgal, and all the troops with him were quaking with fear. He waited seven days, the time set by Samuel; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and Saul's men began to scatter. So he said, "Bring me the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings." And Saul offered up the burnt offering. Just as he finished making the offering, Samuel arrived, and Saul went out to greet him."

As we see here, Saul disobeyed what Samuel had instructed him to do because he was impatient. Have you ever been disobedient thinking God won't come in time or you weren't sure if He would show up in that mid-night hour? See what happens to Saul next;

'"What have you done?" asked Samuel. Saul replied, "When I saw that the men were scattering, and that you did not come at the set time, and that the Philistines were assembling at Micmash, I thought, 'Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the LORD's favor.' So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering." "You acted foolishly," Samuel said. "You have not kept the command the LORD your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. But now your kingdom will not endure; the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people, because you have not kept the LORD's command." Could you imagine the disgust in Samuel's face when he found Saul in disobedience? I honestly think there was more hurt that disqust. Imagine entrusting your prophetic gift to someone who doesn't have enough faith or patience in believing it's true. It would pretty much devastate anyone. But because of Saul's impatience, he lost a huge portion of his life and his inheritence. Be prepared to wait upon the Lord. Stand on God's promise in Isaiah 40:31 (amp), "But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired."

Be Blessed!
