Here we go! Sorry for the delay but with the holidays, it has been hard to post. :) We recently returned from Memphis from our wonderful holiday with the Howell family. A few people may have been upset because we couldn't spend Christmas day in Memphis but unfortunately, I am not willing to travel on Christmas day late to get home so I can work on the next day. Anyway, we are now in week 11 and tomarrow will be week 12 in the pregnancy.
The Baby at Week 11:
Your fetus, about the size of a large lime, measures about 1.75 to 2.4 inches from crown to rump and weighs about three-tenths of an ounce. About now the rapid "swooshing" noises of the heartbeat can be heard through a Doppler sound-wave stethoscope. Fingernails and external genitalia are showing distinguishing characteristics, and the baby is swallowing and kicking, although you still won't feel it.
Sara is doing well this week with the travel and the baby. Although we have been traveling and visiting, she has not been too sick. The baby is acting well so far with the exception of making an upset stomach.
The Baby at Week 12
The fetus now measures about 2.5 inches from crown to rump and weighs between three-tenths of an ounce and half an ounce. It is fully formed, from tooth buds to toenails, and your baby's job now is to continue getting larger and stronger for the rest of your pregnancy. With the most critical development behind the fetus, the chance of miscarriage drops considerably after this week.
We are hoping that this is the week that Sara will be more energetic and less sick. So far, so good. Though we are moving and she's working more, she seems to be doing well. We will hear the heart beat next week which will be a blessing to us.
Well, in my next blog, there will be a recap of 2007! Look forward to seeing you guys soon!
