Memphis....another frontier.....

We're back! Many have asked about the little bundle of joy that we had on June 29th. Okay, only one or two but hey, that's many in my book! :) Maleah is doing well. She was diagnosed with Acid Reflux and we have medicine which means, she sleeps! Thank ya Jesus!! We went on our annual Memphis Trip in August on Wednesday night after I got off of work. We arrived around 930pm after several stops on the way. Maleah did very well on the ride down, sleeping most of the way, only waking up when she was wet or hungry. I really think Mom and Dad enjoyed having her there. They really don't get to see her, in fact this was the second time since she's been born that they saw her. I know many other people wanted to see her but nothing compares to Grandma and Grandpa when they meet their first grandchild. I know they miss her and they wish that we lived closer but we know that it is better this way. Mammaw Howell got to spend time with her Thursday morning and some of the afternoon. Maleah is the fourth great grandchild in the family. Mammaw Howell had a lot of fun holding her and watching her smile and laugh. That night, Sara and I decided to leave her with Grandma and Grandpa while we went bowling with Amanda and Sean. Honestly, though we had a lot of fun, it wasn't worth 45.00. Afterwards, we retreated to the Howell Homestead to put Maleah to bed and to play cards with Mom. On Friday, Sara and I spent most of the day at my parent's house with them. I attempted to cut their yard for them but their lawn mower went kaput. We headed to Sean's for dinner which was awesome! We had hamburgers and chips. Ed and Marilyn, Sean's Mom and Dad, got to play with Maleah before she fell asleep. We got home to play more cards with Mom and Amanda, then off to bed we went. Saturday morning, Sean and his Mom treated us to breakfast at I HOP. Yum..... We left there to go to Mammaw Howell's one last time before we came back home. We had dinner with her and watched a movie shortly after. Grandpa and Maleah took a nap in the chair while Sara and I passed out on the couch. Don't let anyone tell you parenthood is nice and quiet.... it's nice but not at all quiet. On Sunday, we went to church with Mom and Amanda and had lunch afterwards with the whole family. After a lot of talking and cooing over Maleah, we had to say our farewells and off to the road we went. Though it was a "vacation", it was definitely tiring. I think next time we will have to be more strict on the schedule for poor Maleah. I don't think people realize how much it takes out of her being held and toted around all day long just to get to bed late at night. Maybe those that don't see themselves as the ones that caused her restless nights will see the truth about the whole matter. Sara and I love and miss each and everyone of those in Memphis but we are glad to be home!!!
