Push and Pull- Bonus
There are times when I wonder if we are pushing God on people too much. You know what I mean? Sometimes it’s God this and God that when people just want to see the fruit of what God really is. We place God’s Word on every single sentence we say or every little comment and most people are driven to drink at that point. I know, this is controversial because God’s word does tell us to think on these things always but can a non-Christian get a break? Christian, people who do not believe in God or are in a backslidden state do not want you pushing and pulling them to Christ. The Holy Spirit will not push Himself onto someone; they have to make that choice for themselves. Many people are gathering stones now that they have gotten this far in my teaching but hear me out before you cast them upon me. I see it time after time when a person will just push God on them so much that they are driven away from it. Especially if it is a hypocritical situation where a “Christian” is acting the opposite of their beliefs. In James, the Word tells us to be a “doer of the Word.” Don’t sit there and watch someone’s need go unmet and then tell them about Christ. Don’t sit there and watch someone hurt inside and then tell him or her about Christ. Don’t sit there and watch someone cry out for help and then tell them about Christ. Don’t sit there and see someone who is not ready to accept Christ and then beat the Bible over his or her head and shove it down their throat. My friends, if you want someone to remain unsaved, do these things. Why? I have been there. I have seen the effects of “Christians” and the way that they have to get their point across about what they believe in and then tell you that you are going to hell because you don’t believe what they believe. Now there is balance in my statements. We are called to minister to people (see Matthew 28:19). But we are also called to minister to people by our actions. Matthew 25:34-36 says, “Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Be careful fellow Christian. If you don’t meet the need, you could very well miss the opportunity to minister to a non-believer or someone who is backslidden. You never know if that person has been praying for a Christian to be a doer of the word instead of just a hearer of the word. Please don’t be guilty of falling into the lifestyle of complacency and stagnation. Be ready to see and meet the need. Ask God to help you to be a better Christian each and every day. Be prepared to be a Christian each and every day. God bless you!
Maleah's Week Two
We are inching to the end of week two of Maleah being in this world. It’s hard to believe that this little angel has taken precedence over our home. It’s unfortunate that she is having some tummy problems and cries a lot at night but we know that our Lord will heal her in His time. She really loves the blanket that a friend of Sara’s brought over last weekend. She snuggles up so much in it and sleeps a lot in it. So far, it’s nothing that you could ever imagine being a parent. Your life totally changes, I get that, but the love that you have for that little one is so much greater than you could ever know and the love for the mother of that child is even greater than you could ever know. I get the privilege to raise her up. It both thrills me and scares the mess out of me but I know that my God will give me the strength to do it all. We have had to make some difficult decisions but I know that those we have made are going to make our lives even better.
