Well, some of you already know but on June 27th my Granddaddy passed away. After 78 years of living, he went home to the big blackroom in the sky ( he was a photographer). I can hear him now telling the angels how to do their jobs or sitting with his mom and dad talking about the good ole days. I know he misses us, we miss him, but he can not possibly miss this world.
Out of desperation to see him before he died, I left work at 1pm on Wednesday (on Tuesday he had had a heart attack) and rushed to our house. Sara and I packed in a record 30 minutes and left town. It was 95+ degrees, no air in the car, and muggy. About 330 I recieved a call from dad that Granddaddy had died. So we decided to stop for a minute to catch our breaths and off we went again. We arrived in Memphis around 830. What usually is a 5 hour drive was longer because we were sufficating and had to stop every hour or so. Mammaw handled it well. They were married 58 years! What a blessing it was for her to have enjoyed him for that long. I know that they didn't have a picture perfect marriage but Granddaddy loved her and she loved him. I learned a lot this week. So much that I just don't have room to place it here or at least I know that no one would really read it. But I do know one thing, Granddaddy is in that home far away and we will see him again.
